Taylor Norris, CEO Custom Air Products & Services, Inc. (CAPS), today announced that Bea Amaya has successfully earned her Ph.D. in Technical Communication and Rhetoric. CAPS is a leading commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) company headquartered in Houston, Texas.
Houston, TX (PRWeb) September 18, 2015 — Taylor Norris, CEO Custom Air Products & Services, Inc. (CAPS), today announced that CAPS Systems Analyst, Bea Amaya, has successfully defended her dissertation and has completed all the requirements for earning her Ph.D. in Technical Communication and Rhetoric.
Amaya has worked for CAPS on several occasions, first as a part-time contractor and later as a full-time employee. At the end of the summer of 2014 she took a one-year leave of absence from the company to accept a teaching role at Texas A&M University at Qatar while working on completing her dissertation. “Most people who earn their Ph.D. are, or are destined to become, university faculty,” Bea explained, “but I had no such experience. When the opportunity came up to work at a prestigious university in the Middle East for a short term, I knew it might be my only chance to do so. Teaching was a wonderful, rewarding experience and I wouldn’t have missed that experience for anything. But my roots, my experience, and my expertise are all in industry, so here I am again, back at CAPS, and doing what I know and love.”
A Technical Communicator by training in a Systems Analyst position at CAPS, Amaya focuses her work on designing data management tools and on converting raw data into clear, concise, and useful information for management, division managers, salesmen, customers, and others to use in making sound business decisions.
“We are very excited to have Bea back home and working with us here at CAPS again,” said CEO Taylor Norris. “We have a lot of incredibly talented people in our organization but, as an organization, have not always done the best job of sharing our knowledge with the industry and other interested parties. We are really excited about having Dr. Amaya in a position to help us further develop our technical communications strategies. This will result in CAPS doing more to contribute to the growth and development of our industry, the growth and improvement of our organization, and to provide real value to our customers by helping them make more informed and better business decisions relating to the products and services we offer.”
In addition to company communication developments, Bea hopes to pursue some article publications and conference presentations that combine her academic training and her industry experience, focusing on topics of organizational communication, data analysis, data visualization, technical communication, and organizational/strategic group theories in the near future.
“I’m really glad to have achieved this personal goal,” pointed out Dr. Amaya, “but I’m also excited about using what I’ve learned to find new ways to exert a positive impact on our business. And merging my academic training, my industrial experience, and the opportunities provided by CAPS seems like a perfect place to start.”
